Blackmagic Design ATEM 8.5.1 Software Update
Blackmagic Design has released version 8.5.1 of its ATEM video switcher control software. The Blackmagic Design ATEM 8.5.1 Software Update aims to fix some bugs and improve the performance and stability of the software. For all ATEM Mini models, Blackmagic has improved “Display and Input Connectivity” to support more HDMI sources and displays.
Key brightness
Users have complained that the ATEM Mini’s backlit buttons are too bright. While the buttons are perfectly functional in bright environments, it’s more likely that someone will be using the ATEM Mini in a dark environment. In such cases, the buttons were simply too bright. A new setting in the ATEM software allows you to dim the backlight, depending on your usage.
Non-Volatile Memory
For owners of the extremely popular “ATEM Mini Pro” and “ATEM Mini Pro ISO” models, there is another very useful feature in the ATEM 8.5.1 software update. Previously, when the switcher lost power (or was turned off overnight) it would lose all images loaded into its memory. With the new update this problem is eliminated.

You can go to the Blackmagic Design website to download the free update. Also, be sure to update the switcher firmware after installing the new control software on your computer. You can do this by connecting the switcher via USB-C while running the included “ATEM Setup” software. Or alternatively, by running “ATEM Setup” while the switcher is connected to the same network as the control computer.
