Calibrite: 3 New Color Calibrators. Calibrite has released a trio of display calibrators designed for a range of display technologies, including a new Display Plus HL calibrator that works with ultra-bright high dynamic range (HDR) displays with up to 10,000 nits of brightness.
The new Calibrite Display series calibration tools are all similar, although each model has the ability to calibrate displays of different brightness values.
Display SL
The Display SL, which occupies the “entry-level” position in the series, is designed for more traditional computer monitors and displays for standard dynamic range (SDR) content, including SDR photography and video.
The Display SL includes a “Photo Preset” feature, which allows users to select a preset white point value to calibrate their display. The Display SL calibrates a standard patch in the center of a display.
Display Pro HL
The “mid-range” Display Pro HL can calibrate displays up to 3,000 nits in brightness and includes an expanded feature set compared to the Display SL. Display Pro HL includes additional presets, including video presets, and allows users to create and save custom presets.
It also allows users to dial in specific white points and custom brightness values up to 3,000 cd/m2. The Display SL can work with displays up to 250 cd/m2.
Additional benefits of Display Pro HL include calibration and measurement tools for contraction ratio, gamma, color matching, extended profiles, other calibration patch sizes, screen uniformity, screen validation, quick screen check, and ambient light measurements.
Display Plus HL
The most advanced new calibration tool in the Calibrite Display series is the Display Plus HL, with “HL” standing for “high brightness.” The Display Plus HL offers the same features as the Display Pro HL, plus HDR support and custom brightness values up to 10,000 cd/m2.
The final unique aspect of the Display Plus HL is the ability for users to set the BT 1886 gamma, something the Display Pro HL does not offer.
