New AI Assistant in Adobe Express
Adobe Express launches AI Assistant in beta, allowing users to edit and create designs through prompts, without the need for design tool knowledge. The assistant works like a chatbot, allowing changes to backgrounds, fonts or individual elements, and can also create entire designs or modify existing ones, while maintaining creator control. The feature supports professional font and image libraries, leveraging Firefly AI, and allows for the transition between AI and manual editing, facilitating the creative flow.
AI Assistant in Adobe Express
Adobe is expanding its conversational AI ecosystem with the new AI Assistant in Adobe Express, also introduced at MAX 2025. The Express AI Assistant (in public beta) allows users to create or modify designs with simple natural prompts, such as “make an Instagram post for Black Friday” or “change colors to warmer tones,” by turning templates into a “conversational canvas” where the user describes and the AI implements.
The assistant understands context such as colors, fonts, element hierarchy, and brand style, suggesting layout, typography, and color combinations that follow professional design practices.
Sweeping and Manual Editing
Users can make sweeping edits across an entire campaign or target specific layers – texts, images, backgrounds – while always having the option of direct manual editing through the familiar Express tools, with the collaboration method being consciously “hybrid”.
The AI Assistant also handles multi-step requests, such as resizing & reformatting a design for multiple platforms or converting static layouts into animations, leveraging Firefly generative models and access to brand assets, so that small teams and solo creators can quickly produce on-brand, multi-format content for social, ads, and presentations.
