With built-in uncompressed audio recording, you can record professional-quality audio directly to ProRes files and avoid audio sync in post production.

With the Super 35 sensor you have framing and behavior that you are familiar with from the lenses you already own! The sensor has a global shutter for perfect panning and with minimal crop factor you get extremely wide-angle shots with the corresponding lenses. If you are working in HD you can easily reframe and zoom without loss of resolution and if you are shooting from 4K to HD you will have an incredibly smooth and clear image.
EF lens mount

With the EF compatible lens mount you can choose high quality lenses that can take advantage of Super 35 sensors with minimal cropping. You can use Canon, Zeiss and other lenses, with full electronic control!
With the EF mount you are not locked into a specific lens, you can work with professional cinema lenses using rails, follow focus and other professional accessories!
Super Fast SSD Recorder
4K ProRes recording directly to removable SSD card!
With the built-in SSD recorder, the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K records 4K in ProRes 422 (HQ) and compressed CinemaDNG files. The Blackmagic 4K camera is designed from the ground up to be part of your post production workflow! By recording to a removable SSD you can plug the SSD into your computer once you’re done shooting and edit or color correct directly from the card! The cards can be formatted in either HFS+ or exFAT for Mac and Windows compatibility.

Open File Formats
Open files for your NLE applications
Unlike traditional cameras that record in various file formats that require time-consuming conversion before post, the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K records directly to files that are compatible with editing applications etc. The wide dynamic range of the Super 35 sensor provides great flexibility for color corrections in highlights and shadows. If you are working quickly, simply select 'Video' and shoot in the REC709 color space.

Import metadata directly into the camera
Use the capacitive touchscreen to navigate menus and change settings, such as recording format, shutter angle and more! Double-tap the screen to zoom in on the image for quick and precise focusing. Single-tap the screen to display the metadata input screen, where you can enter information such as shot number, search tags, scene number, timecode and more. You can also set the scene number to receive automatic numbering! The metadata entered is saved directly to the files and is compatible with popular editing applications. Managing your files during post production is now much simpler!

With 12 stops you get amazing images, better than classic camcorders or even broadcast cameras. All this dynamic range is captured in ProRes or CinemaDNG files and in 4K resolutions, so the video has a cinematic texture. By capturing more detail from the sensor you can get more creative during color grading in DaVinci Resolve!
Standard Connections
Without the need to purchase expensive custom cables
The Production Camera 4K features standard inputs/outputs. It includes a 6G-SDI connection for Ultra HD resolution or down converted HD output via a single SDI cable. The Thunderbolt port allows for connection to a laptop and use of UltraScope for real-time waveform monitoring. There are 1/4 “jack microphone/line inputs for recording high-quality uncompressed audio and 12V to 30V DC input. Plus a 3.5mm headphone jack and LANC remote control!
