NEW Lacie Chrome 1TB SSD by Neil Poulton
Lacie Chrome
Lacie, in collaboration with award-winning designer Neil Poulton, announced Lacie Chrome, a high-end external SSD hard drive in the form of a desktop work of art with USB-C connectivity. Neil Poulton's Chrome is a tribute to a 1953 bronze sculpture by Constantin Brancusi, one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century.
The housing is hand-assembled and polished to its final shape. The base is made from a single piece of chrome-plated zinc and supports the disc with strong neodymium magnets that can be detached for transport.
Unique Design for Performance
The Lacie Chrome will be available in a 1TB SSD capacity consisting of 2 x 500 SSD Drives configured in RAID 0 achieving speeds of up to 940 MB/s for storing all types of files. It features USB-C connectivity and USB 3 compatibility. The Chrome's unique aluminum frame is lightweight, durable and rigid and also ensures effective cooling by introducing cold air through a fan and with a heat sink that draws hot air away from the solid-state drives, increasing their performance.
Ultra-fast SSD speeds
The Chrome's ultra-fast SSD speeds allow for the transfer of 2 hours of 4K GoPro footage in just over a minute, facilitating 3D modeling and architectural design work, and smooth editing of hi-res video without the need to convert files to lower resolutions. The Lacie Chrome is Lacie's top offering in Extreme Design objects and is expected to be priced around €1,100 when it becomes available in the coming weeks.
