Free 3.4 Update Adds New Features to Blackmagic Production Camera 4K
Blackmagic Design has announced the immediate availability of update 3.4 for the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K. This new update adds SDI record trigger, RP-188 timecode output and improved 6G-SDI output compatibility.
Users who own the original Blackmagic Production Camera 4K can now download the new version to gain features previously only available on newer models, such as Blackmagic URSA and Blackmagic URSA Mini, making the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K more compatible with external displays and recording devices.
The Blackmagic Production Camera 4K 3.4 Update adds support for SDI start/stop record triggers, allowing external video recorders, such as the Blackmagic Video Assist, to start and stop recording automatically in conjunction with the camera. This makes operating the camera and an external recording device even easier than before.
Users will also gain SDI RP-188 timecode output, so they can now record files with the exact same timecode on both the camera and an external recorder. For example, users will be able to record RAW files with their camera, while simultaneously using Blackmagic Video Assist to record ProRes and DNxHD files with the same timecode. This makes it possible to use ProRes or DNxHD files for editing, and automatically link to the RAW files for grading and finishing with tools like DaVinci Resolve.
