Lacie: Free data recovery with disk purchase

Lacie announced data recovery service, Lacie Data Recovery Service DRS, which will accompany the company's newest series of hard drives such as Rugged USB C and Thunderbolt, d2, 2big, 6big and 12big.

The service Lacie Data Recovery Service DRS is another provision that adds value to Lacie's storage systems to meet the storage space, speed and reliability requirements of creative professionals as well as amateurs in video, graphics and in general image file processing and management. It's coming to be added to guarantees two, three and five years that Lacie already provides, depending on the series, ensuring a profitable investment. As those who have had similar experience probably know, similar services can be very expensive.

Data recovery

The Data Recovery Service (DRS), is available from Comart which is a “Premium” Authorized Reseller, Lacie Authorized Reseller.

The following models with a purchase date after are covered on October 10, 2017 for the duration of their warranty:

  • Lacie d2 Thunderbolt 3 (5 years Warranty & Recovery)

  • Lacie 12big Thunderbolt 3 (5 years Warranty & Recovery)

The above offer capacities from 1 to 120TB with disks HDD or SSD. Depending on the series, they have connectivity technologies USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 and safety and speed technology RAID levels 1 to 6. They are ideal for professional and demanding home use.

What is covered:

If the drive experiences a problem, an attempt will be made to recover data and lost files. The data that will be recovered is returned to an external storage unit or will be available at a specific link in the Lacie cloud, from where the user can download it, for a period of 60 days.

The Seagate Rescue Plan provides Data Recovery Service (“DRS”) for hard drive failure (hard drive failure), attack by viruses, problems software and other physics or engineering problems disaster which can cause data loss.

For Greece and the rest of the European countries coverage is provided by a specialized data recovery center of Lacie in Amsterdam. Communication takes place directly between the end customer and Lacie and the missions to and from the center is free.
