ATTO Technology, Inc., a nearly 30-year pioneer in storage and connectivity solutions for networks and infrastructure, introduced several new Thunderbolt™ 3 connectivity devices at IBC 2016.
In one of two exciting demonstrations in booth 7.F41, ATTO unveiled the highly anticipated Thunderbolt 3 32Gb Gen 6 Fibre Channel ThunderLink® device, enabling content creators to achieve higher throughput rates for enhanced 4K workflows.
The demonstration included a workstation streaming 4K footage from a Facilis® Terrablock with Celerity™ 32Gb Gen 6 host bus adapters (HBAs) via a Brocade® 32Gb Fibre Channel switch and with a Lenovo™ ThinkPad® P70 Thunderbolt 3 mobile workstation connected to the Terrablock via the new ThunderLink 3322 32Gb Fibre Channel device.
ATTO will continue to support 16Gb Fibre Channel with the introduction of the ThunderLink 3162 Thunderbolt 3 to 16Gb Fibre Channel device. These new devices allow customers to fully utilize the increased bandwidth of Thunderbolt 3 with speeds of up to 2,750 MB/s.
The new Fibre Channel ThunderLink devices offer:
- MultiPath Director™ for fault and load balancing, along with dual ports for redundancy and extended support
- SFP+ modules tested for interoperability
- A simple configuration tool to manage and monitor Thunderbolt products and ATTO HBAs from a single pane of glass
Visitors who stopped by booth 7.F41 during IBC learned more about ATTO's Fibre Channel Thunderbolt 3 devices and additional protocol support, including Thunderbolt 3 over 40GbE ThunderLink, which was named “Coolest New Product” at the NAB Show in Las Vegas by Post Magazine.
