Great flexibility
The functionality RAID in a 12 bay chassis provides great flexibility. The total capacity can be divided into several volumes depending on the needs and the work flow. One secure volume can be used to store raw material, another to import clips and work in progress, and one to archive completed final projects.
High productivity
The speeds of the LaCie 12big dramatically reduce times for most demanding video editing, post production, etc. tasks while storing huge volumes of video material on enterprise class drives. Like for example the ingest RAW material from a Blackmagic Cinema Camera to Adobe Premier or processing multiple streams ProRes 422 (HQ), ProRes 444 XQ as well as uncompressed HD 10-bit and 12-bit video. Also in large projects with many hi-res clips the thumbnails and render in preview is much faster
Thunderbolt 3 connectivity
Thunderbolt 3 with twice the bandwidth of Thunderbolt 2 allows two 4K displays or one 5K display to be daisy-chained to 12big. With two 4K screens, you can spread out your workspace by dedicating one screen to the timeline and the second to previewing 4K video, plus the Thunderbolt 3 port can provide power to a compatible laptop.
