Adobe Firefly: New AI Assistant for more natural and faster creative editing
Adobe is introducing the new Firefly AI Assistant, a conversational tool that allows creators to edit projects by simply describing what they want to change, without having to know complex terms or specialized workflows in individual Creative Cloud apps. According to Adobe, this approach marks a fundamental change in the way creative work is done, reducing technical barriers and automating time-consuming processes, while the user retains control of the final result.
Conversational editing in Firefly
Firefly’s new AI Assistant is based on the logic of conversational editing and can perform complex, multi-step workflows utilizing tools such as Firefly, Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, Express and Illustrator on behalf of the user. In practice, the creator can request actions such as retouching an image or adapting an asset for social media, with the system suggesting different editing versions while simultaneously displaying the appropriate controls for further fine-tuning.

For more specialized needs, results can be opened in the corresponding Creative Cloud apps to continue work with greater precision and creative flexibility. In this way, Adobe attempts to unite the ease of prompt-based editing with the power of its professional creative tools in a more unified work environment.
Personalization and Creative Skills
One of the key features of the Firefly AI Assistant is that it will be able to gradually learn the user's preferences, such as the tools they choose most often, the workflows they follow, and the aesthetic directions they prefer, so that the results become more personalized and more consistent. Adobe says that this feature will be optional, while users will also be able to select specific projects from which the assistant will draw information.
At the same time, Creative Skills are also being introduced, i.e. specialized presets or reusable functions that can be performed by the assistant for more consistent and predictable results. Creators will have the option to either build their own skills or utilize ready-made options from a library that will be available with the launch of the feature.
New video and image capabilities
Along with the announcement of the Firefly AI Assistant, Adobe is also introducing new image, video and audio editing capabilities for the Firefly platform. Firefly Video Editor now integrates with Adobe Stock for easier access to B-roll footage, while new tools are added for better color adjustment and improved clarity of spoken dialogue.

In image editing, new features like Precision Flow allow users to create and compare more variations of images without constantly changing prompts, while new AI Markup gives more control over where edits are applied via brush, rectangle tools or reference images. At the same time, Adobe is expanding its overall strategy for AI assistants, having already introduced corresponding agentic capabilities in Acrobat, Express and Photoshop, but also planning their availability in third-party AI applications such as Claude.
