Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters for Broadcast and Live Production
Blackmagic Design: Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter. Blackmagic Design has announced a new line of Blackmagic 2110 IP converters, designed to integrate SDI equipment into 2110 IP broadcast systems. The mini and rack-mount models support Ultra HD using 10G Ethernet and are compliant with the SMPTE ST-2110 standard.
SMPTE ST-2110 compliance
The new converters are part of Blackmagic Design’s extensive SMPTE-2110 IP video product line, which includes converters, monitors and cameras. The rack-mount models feature a color LCD display for monitoring, menus and diagnostics, while all models support the NMOS protocol for seamless integration with other SMPTE-2110 devices.
Integration with SDI equipment
“This new Blackmagic 2110 IP converter series is exciting because it provides customers with a way to integrate existing SDI equipment into low-cost 2110 IP broadcast systems,” said Grant Petty, CEO of Blackmagic Design. “By using 10G Ethernet, we were able to design the converters to be smaller, use less power, and be remotely powered, all at an affordable price.”
Improved quality and performance
One of the key advantages of the Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters is their ability to connect point-to-point, eliminating the need for a complex Ethernet switch. This allows users to enjoy the benefits of SMPTE-2110 IP video with simple Ethernet cables, remote power, and bidirectional video.
The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters support the highest quality video, with 10-bit color depth ensuring perfect pixel-to-pixel transmission of the original SDI source. The converters also support the Blackmagic IP10 encoder, which provides low-latency compression for Ultra HD video over 30fps, ensuring that SMPTE-2110 IP video products remain affordable.
Available models and technical specifications
The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converters series includes three different models:
- Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 3x3G: Supports 3 3G-SDI connections, ideal for standard HD applications
- Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 4x12G: Supports 4 12G-SDI connections, offering greater flexibility and support for Ultra HD up to 2160p60
- Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter 8x12G: Supports 8 12G-SDI connections, providing the highest capabilities for large productions and installations requiring multiple Ultra HD connections
All models support remote Power over Ethernet (PoE), feature an LCD display for easy monitoring and diagnostics, and are compatible with the NMOS protocol for direct integration with other SMPTE-2110 devices.
