Sparkle, the largest international telecommunications interconnection service provider in Italy and among the top ten worldwide, is strengthening its partnership with content distribution company, MainStreaming, by signing an agreement to support the distribution of high-performance video in an environmentally sustainable manner. As part of the agreement, Sparkle will double the space available for MainStreaming’s servers – hosted in the company’s «green» data center in Athens – in order to achieve its goals for global Internet interconnection services.
MainStreaming is an international technology partner for broadcasters and over-the-top digital media companies, delivering high-quality video streaming in an environmentally sustainable manner. With its innovative Intelligent Media Delivery platform, MainStreaming has achieved Carbon Neutral certification, reaching net-zero thanks to its energy-efficient network and software architecture. In fact, MainStreaming’s AI-based technology can improve network resource allocation and reduce energy consumption by more than 50% compared to traditional distribution technologies.
In order to better serve subscribers in the Balkans, MainStreaming entrusted Sparkle with placing its systems in the «Metamorfosis I» data center in Athens, which uses renewable energy and is strategically located in relation to the Balkan region. At the same time, this modern data center exploits the Seabone system for high-performance Internet speeds, ideal to support the «path» of a high-quality video. Thus, subscribers enjoy streaming with low latency, thanks to the fiber optic network that extends throughout Europe, Africa, America and Asia.
