vMix is a live production and streaming software solution for productions that require switching, graphics, recording and streaming. It supports cameras, video files, NDI sources, remote guests via vMix Call, images, audio, web streams, PowerPoint, titles, virtual sets and chroma key, while being able to project, egg record and live stream simultaneously.
The platform covers both small webcam setups and large multicamera productions, for use in live events, online shows, churches, esports, sports, meetings and presentations. The production workflow includes content mix & switch, overlays and graphics, audio mixing, instant replay in larger versions and audience interaction via vMix Social.
At the input layer, vMix accepts cinema cameras, camcorders, PTZ, IP cameras, webcams, as well as PCIe, Thunderbolt and USB capture devices from manufacturers such as Blackmagic Design, AJA and Elgato. It also supports videos, images, desktop capture, SRT feeds, data-driven content and titles via vMix GT Titler, making it useful in environments where the software needs to act as the main production hub.
In terms of output and distribution, vMix offers multistreaming to platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and Vimeo, as well as recording in high-quality formats. The vMix 4K and PRO versions also support ISO recording via vMix Multicorder, while outputs include NDI, SRT, SDI and output to monitors, projectors and TVs. It also provides a 60-day fully functional free trial, while it is available both with a lifetime license and with a subscription via vMix Max.
